The 23rd Maine Student Film and Video Festival deadline for entries to arrive is June 1, 2000. The Festival's Public Screening and Awards Presentation will be held at 10 AM on July 8, 2000, at the Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville, Maine as part of the Maine International Film Festival.The Festival is open to Maine residents 19 years of age and younger. Entries are judged in categories (determined by oldest moviemaker):
There is no entry fee. Submitted movies are reviewed by three judges: an educator, a media arts professional, and a past MSFVF winner.
- Pre-teen - grades K-6
- Junior - grades 7-9
- Senior - grades 10-12
Winners and finalists receive a certificate of merit and prizes such as movie tickets and videotapes. A Grand Prize Winner is selected from the Senior Division to receive a scholarship worth $1400 for the 2 week Young Filmmakers program at the International Film and Television Workshops in Rockport, Maine during the summer of 2000.
Works are selected on the basis of originality, content, style, and technique.
Poster and entry forms will be mailed to all Maine schools in March, 2000.
