Winter Fence
(16mm, 1983-84, 12:37 minutes)
Wire fencing seeks to contain the drifting snows
the chilling sound of winter wind rises and falls.
Glimpses of spring's green hope and yearnings assert
themselves within a montage that underscores the weight of winter
and measures out the passing of time. We hear an organ playing strains
of Auld Lang Syne. Passages from Gustave Holst's Saturn, the bringer
of old age. An old man, in silence, speaks words we cannot hear, as corn stalks
turn golden under an autumn sun.
